My Insight on Volunteering at Yamagata University’s English Day

On June 6th and 20th, I joined the English Day event held at my university as a volunteer, alongside other international students. We were there to help Japanese students who want to improve their English and study abroad.

During the event, I shared my journey of learning English and studying abroad from Malaysia to Japan with the participants. We had a great time exchanging information, playing board games, and conducting interviews!

From this experience, I noticed how surprised people were to learn that I can speak English fluently, even though it isn't my native language. Coming from Malaysia and growing up multilingual, I realized how powerful language is in connecting with people and broadening my perspective on different cultures.

I really hope this experience helps me build even more meaningful connections as a Malaysian student in Japan.
