Malaysians Brought Together At Hokuriku Family Day
SAKAI, 27 June 2026 – The Malaysian Students' Association in Japan (MSAJ) Hokuriku Region successfully organized Hokuriku Family Day 2026 at Takekurabe Plaza, Fukui Prefecture, bringing together 38 participants, including committee members, for a day filled with games, social interaction, and community bonding.
The event aimed to bring Malaysian students and working adults in the Hokuriku and Chubu regions closer together by providing a chance to meet, interact, and spend quality time with one another. Inspired by the theme of Avatar: The Last Airbender, participants were divided into four teams representing the elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Throughout the day, the teams competed in a series of sukaneka-style games that encouraged teamwork, communication, and healthy competition.
Participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including filling bottles using a sponge, searching for sugar hidden in flour, eating biscuits without using their hands, the straw-in-the-bottle challenge, the kain pelikat balloon pass, Simon Says, and several other team games. Each activity was scored using a point system, making the competition exciting while encouraging everyone to work together and support their teammates.
After the morning games, participants took a break for lunch and prayers before continuing with the afternoon programme. Once the games were completed, everyone had the opportunity to relax by the riverside, socialize, and enjoy the surroundings together. This session allowed participants to reconnect with old friends, get to know new members, and strengthen the sense of community within the Hokuriku region. The event ended with a prize-giving ceremony, closing remarks, and a group photo session.
Overall, Hokuriku Family Day 2026 achieved its goal of strengthening friendships and fostering a stronger sense of community among Malaysians living in the Hokuriku region. The event received positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the fun and inclusive activities as well as the welcoming atmosphere. At the same time, participants shared several suggestions for future events, such as improving pre-event planning, providing clearer information and game rules beforehand, enhancing time management, and preparing backup plans for unexpected weather. These valuable comments will be taken into consideration to further improve future editions of Hokuriku Family Day.
