SHIZUOKA, 13 August – The Malaysian Students’ Association Japan (MSAJ) recently held its first and long-awaited Team Building 2025, an initiative by the People Development Bureau to nurture stronger relationships, open communication and a deeper connection sense of community among members.

Living in Japan, where cultural norms often emphasize individual growth and restraint in expression, the concept of honne and tatemae sometimes influences how people interact with each other. MSAJ recognized the need to create a safe and friendly space where members could connect sincerely to friends who respect, trust and care for one another.

The three-day program was packed with exciting and creative activities. It began with ice-breaking games, where members introduced themselves and shared their dreams, sparking curiosity, laughter, and encouragement. Next came the engaging treasure hunt and imposter challenge, which tested teamwork, strategy, and trust. Members then tackled a case study session, exchanging ideas, sharing each other story and sharpening problem-solving skills together. A lively drawing game added humor and creativity, strengthening bonds through shared fun.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Malam Melayu Klasik, where participants showcased their talents in cultural performances. From the witty “Madu Tiga” sketch, the legendary tale of “Tanggang,” to rhythmic dikir barat and even a musical drama, the night was filled with creativity, laughter and nostalgia. The atmosphere was nothing short of vibrant, with everyone fully immersed and enjoying each moment together with a definitely good food that were made with love by all the participants.

Finally, the event wrapped up with a closing session, where members reflected on lessons learned and expressed gratitude to one another. The program ended not with goodbyes, but with stronger friendships, louder laughter, and a renewed sense of unity.

MSAJ Team Building 2025 truly succeeded in strengthening trust, empathy, social skills and passion among members. This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of the People Development Bureau, whose efforts brought everyone together in such a meaningful way.

As Vala Afshar once said: “We are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust, and care for each other.” To us, this retreat was more than just a program. It was the beginning of a stronger bond and a shared journey for the MSAJ members.
